This is your brain...

So this week has been insane. Multiple sessions, catching up from the rain we had for almost two weeks, a secret project that went amazingly well, finding out I'll be published, meetings with vendors and clients annnnnd editing WITH school....I haven't been sleeping well. I've been up since 3:30am this mornin, because I couldn't fall back to sleep...and then I had a 6am homecoming and then I had an hour long convo with a vendor...and if you feel overwhelmed by all of this....imagine what my brain feels like.

It's like that commercial Rachel Leigh Cook made for a Drug Free American however long ago that was. "This is your brain...this is your brain on drugs..." except I'm not on drugs, unless coffee constitutes as a drug.

But I love my job, I'm not complaining. The whole point of this post was to show you a sneak from the first portion of an engagement session I had yesterday. Kristen & Chad are getting married in July and I am SO excited to share ALL of these images eventually!!!

So here's to more coffee, stolen naps and my determination to become famous....

My One Year Anniversary!

They say the first year of business is the hardest and boy, they weren't kidding! In the past 12 months, I have learned soooo much, because I've been incredibly tireless in my efforts. Seriously, I haven't had a day off in a month. haha

Complaints aside, I've been so blessed. When I decided earlier last year to leave the military for different things, I had no clue what I was getting myself into. I honestly thought that starting a photography company meant

1. Taking pictures
2. Making money

They (I don't even know who would constitute as "they") completely fibbed. So when I had my first difficult client, I almost closed up shop, not realizing that this is a part of growing as a business and as a person. I stuck with it and this year, I'm booked weeks out, with weddings on the books and repeat clients coming back! It's incredibly gratifying and while I try my best to be modest about my success, I would like to take this quick second to thumb my nose at those who thought I was crazy and say

I DID IT.

As a beautiful example, I've made a collage of images I took within the first few months of my company:

Now:

Okay, now that that is out of the way, I'd like to thank you, you who is reading and hopefully smiling. {April + Andrew} Wedding Sneaks!

I just got started in the wedding business and had fiercely prayed that the perfect bride would come along, swoop me up with the knowledge that I wouldn't let her down and kickstart my goal to get into the wedding industry.

Enter April, who is so sweet and kind and her now husband Andrew, who loves her to death and is incredibly fun to be around. They met at Crossfit classes and it's been history since! I had such an amazing time capturing all of their emotions, meeting friends and family and running around the Hale Koa like my life depended on it. I can't wait until my next wedding! Thanks April for believing in me...

{Sunday Morning Fun | Sneaks}

My favorite thing in the whole world is an easy going family with beautiful children and yesterday, that's exactly what I got! Surf was up, the sun was warm and most of all, there wasn't traffic! This family is just too darn adorable for words, so enjoy!

The Benefits of Pinterest

Pinterest is where wedding planning is going, mark my words. I found Pinterest not too long ago & adore the benefits and ideas it throws at you on a daily basis! When I have consultations with brides, regardless if they hire me, I make sure they know what Pinterest is, because I want their wedding to be as awesome as possible.

And Pinterest can get you there!

First, head on over to Pinterest.com & ask for an invite. If you aren't patient (it takes a few days), send me an email & I'll send an invite!

I have my own boards on Pinterest, that when I'm bored (usually when at class) I go through and find things that inspire me. See the below screen shot of what my boards look like right now.

Now, you're probably wondering how this can help you with your session? Easy! Pinterest covers a wide variety of topics, from travel locations, DIY tutorials &....PHOTOGRAPHS!

Even better, they have wonderful photographs of food, which lead you to recipes you may or may not have time to make, but will still drool over regardless.

I digress. If you put your mouse over the word "Everything", you will find a plethora of topics, including photographs or weddings. Pick what you would like to look for, we'll use Photographs as an example. You can scroll through thousands of photographs & find examples of poses and ideas you'd like to incorporate for your session. I can follow this board & we can collaborate on ideas, to make an amazing session for you & your loved ones!

Over the past revamp of my business, I searched far and wide for the perfect product to offer in conjunction with a client's images. I stumbled upon Seldex, a company in Australia and fell in love with their quality products.

When it comes to your session or wedding, you'll want a classy way to present these beautiful images to your friends and family. This is why I'm now offering Seldex Image Portfolio Boxes.

The outside is made of silk material and is completely customizable. You can pick it in your wedding colors, have a picture on the front (and mix WITH wedding colors!), write whatever you want, etc. This product can be completely you. Inside, you can have up to 20 matted images, to show off your most favorite images from your session/wedding. They can be placed into frames, placed on shelves or kept inside the false book.

I adore the quality of this product and wanted to offer it as a great option. Yes, we offer beautiful and customized albums, but I really believe in this product. I believe in the quality and versatility of it!

{Bridal Portraits in Hawaii}

In my spare time, I do sessions that fit in my vision, abilities and style. I love brides, I love unique locations and the train station was a beautiful setting. Which is why I dressed my sister up as a bride and dragged her to the train station! I'm a natural light photographer, but working on artificial lighting to please a range of clients. Hope you like!
